United Methodist Temple Foundation
Providing Grants/Loans to members of United Methodist Temple

United Methodist Temple Foundation serves many purposes:

(1) To promote caring and sharing among the members of the congregation by standing ready to extend a helping hand to members in time of family crisis through a grant or loan program. Our command from God is that we love one another, what better way to show this than to stand ready to help in time of crisis?

(2) To assist members of the congregation in alleviating the cost of education by extending a grant or loan. Our people young and old and in between are the present strength and future of our church and our nation under God.

Educational grants are available for academic, vocational and/or trade school courses. Grants made in accord with the guidelines set up by the Foundation, are available to members of United Methodist Temple and are made at the discretion of the Board of Directors. There is no age limit for applications.

Applications and a copy of the guidelines are available in the church office. A new application must be made each year a grant is requested.

To expand and further develop our church's capital improvement program, the Foundation welcomes gifts made through wills. Such gifts are maintained in a separate interest bearing account for capital improvements only. These funds do not slip away in day to day operating expenses, but are held until needed.

An attorney can help you with the legal procedure is making this type of gift. An investment in the Foundation will live on in the lives of many through rememberances to the Foundation. These wills and other gifts can be made to United Methodist Temple Foundation, Inc., 2700 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland, Fl 33803

The first grant made in 1987 was $100. As of May 2004 the Foundation has made a total of 304 grants for a total of $121,423.61. This includes both grants for education purposes and alleviation of family crisis.

The Foundation is another way that we strive to serve both God and our congregation as a whole. We strive to make caring and sharing a living and vibrant part of United Methodist Temple.
