Children who become sick at Noah’s Ark will be isolated from the other children while waiting to be picked up. Parents must pick up the ill child within 90 minutes. If the parent is unable to arrive within that time, we will call the emergency contacts provided by the parent. The child must be kept home 24 hours or bring a doctor’s note stating the child is not contagious. Noah’s Ark does not administer medication to children. If a parent is unable to administer the medication at a time designated by the child’s physician, the parent should come to the office.
Bumps and Bruises
We do everything possible to keep children safe while at Noah’s Ark. If your child is injured, the teacher will complete a report with the details how the injury occurred. If the skin is broken or the bump is to the head, the teacher will call 911 immediately.
Lice Policy
A child who has lice will be isolated from other children. Parents will be called to pick up the child from the center. Every surface and all toys will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to prevent the spread of lice. The child will not be allowed to return to school until he/she is free of lice and nits.
Biting Policy
Biting occurs most frequently between the ages of one and two years. Lots of children bite once or twice. Very few children bite consistently. However, If we have a child who is biting, we will add an extra staff person to the classroom to shadow the child who is biting. This staff person can help the child interact appropriately. If the biting continues we will talk with the parents to explore ways to redirect the child’s behavior. After 2 weeks if we do not see any change in the child’s behavior we will discuss other options with the parents.
